On Monday, Matthew Dowd -- Bush's pollster and strategist -- sent out an e-mail lowering expectations about Bush polls for the next few weeks. It was apparently timed to coincide with John Kerry's selection of a vice presidential candidate. In the memo, Dowd said the presidential race will "swing wildly" to Kerry's favor in the next few weeks because of the V.P. selection and the Democratic convention.
