In the last two days the Schlesinger panel report and the Fay-Jones report have come out on U.S. mistakes in Iraq. Both reports widened the circle of responsibility from what Bush has claimed to be a few misfits to higher authorities.
Yesterday several Democrats, including John Kerry called on Donald Rumsfeld to resign. That call was met with the following reasoning about why that couldn't happen. This is from today's New York Times story by Eric Schmitt:
"But senior Republicans have rushed to defend Mr. Rumsfeld and said his resignation would hand a victory to America's enemies." 08.26.04
