Hurricane Ivan made landfall in Alabama. Border stated were affected. Tragically, life was lost in tornadoes spun by the storm.
But, an unexpected result of the storm was that Ralph Nader was ordered by Florida's high court to be put on the absentee ballot, though the ballots were ordered not to be sent out. The ruling -- at least on its face -- occurred because a lower court that had issued a temporary injunction against putting Nader on the ballot, would not have had time to rule on the issue of a permanent injunction because of the preparations and evacuations going on in Florida in the face of Hurricane Ivan. So, the high court stepped in. Well, that's the official story, anyway.
Dave Bennett alerted me to the story on Talking Points Memo. Late last night, I picked it up on Reuters.
