By Charles Pugsley Fincher, A Spin-Off of

The vice-presidential debate is tonight in Cleveland, Ohio. Dick Cheney arrives with his troubling baggage: He continued to claim an Al Qaeda - Iraq connection when even George W. Bush has admitted that there wasn't evidence of one. He was one of the biggest trumpeters of WMD in Iraq though none turned up. Cheney, the hawk, took five deferments during the Vietnam War instead of serving. And, of course, there's his storied connection to Halliburton.

Still, he has a quick mind, a vicious sarcasm (that can be pretty funny), and the ability to absolutely lie without flinching. Moreover, he's the strongest vice president that I know of and is likely more responsible for the Bush administration policies than Bush himself -- certainly in the foreign policy areas.
