"Though Charles Pugsley Fincher would do well to find a stage name, his daily scribbles are nothing to scoff at. Plain and simple, on lined yellow scratch paper, yet they speak volumes." Jacob Wheeler, Utne.com.
Donald Rumsfeld remains as Secretary of Defense. This comes after calls for his resignation over secret prisons, ghost detainees, torture and the failure of his post-war plan for Iraq. Moreover, there were rumors that Rumsfeld would not stay on for the second term. Still, it's been reported that Rumsfeld wants to try to restore the luster to his image and so stay on.
Late, last Thursday -- nice timing for minimal news coverage -- the Bush team announced that Rumsfeld would stay on. He has a guardian angel in the Bush administration, Dick Cheney. Rumsfeld and Cheny have been involved together in government beginning with the Ford administration, according the Associated Press story on Rumsfeld staying in the Houston Chronicle.
